  SLO ACTIVITIES

The schools in the SABIS® School Network firmly believe that education has the power to change the world. The SABIS® Student Life Organization™ (SABIS® SLO™), a distinctive and integral part of the SABIS® Educational System, gives students the opportunity to develop ‘life’ skills that empower them to make a difference.

The SABIS® SLO™ is the students’ mini-society. Prefects who are selected – not elected – manage the SABIS® SLO™. All students are encouraged to join the SABIS® SLO™ and to take an active part in their education, both at the academic and the non-academic levels. Working in cooperation with and complementing the efforts of the administrative and academic staff, prefects are valuable assets to their schools. They help to raise the general standard, promote high social and moral values, and encourage participation in a wide range of additional activities. The Student Life Coordinator allocates ‘real-life’ tasks to students, and advises and supports them in all of their efforts.

The activities of the SABIS® SLO™ bring major advantages. Students are helped to become responsible and caring citizens through learning to:
• improve general standards,
• promote constructive thinking,
• experience real-life work and responsibilities,
• improve their communication and social skills, and
• reverse negative attitudes.

While being involved and having a good time, students acquire and refine the skills, attitudes and attributes that give them an edge. They acquire a broad base of abilities and experiences and become effective team-players, and this makes top universities from around the world eager to attract and accept our students.
