Hopefully, the “Spring Snows” are over and the weather will move towards warm and sunny! Our students, parents, and staff have been busily preparing for the opening night of the ISM spring musical, “Oklahoma!”.
‘OKLAHOMA!’, which is based on Lynn Riggs’s 1931 play, ‘GREEN GROW THE LILACS’, is set in Oklahoma Territory in 1906. This classic of musical theatre includes some of the best known songs in musical theatre: ‘OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNIN’, ‘SURREY WITH THE FRINGE ON TOP’, ‘PEOPLE WILL SAY WE’RE IN LOVE’, and of course, ‘OKLAHOMA!’. The show tells the story of the high spirited rivalry between the farmers and the cowmen, the romance of cowboy Curly and farm girl Laurey, and the tormented farmhand Jud who tries to tear them apart, the flirtatious Ado Annie and the steadfast, down to earth Aunt Eller who teaches everyone to persevere. The lively dance numbers, the “dream ballet” and exceptional lead vocals are sure to be a highlight of the show.
Rodgers and Hammerstein musical ‘OKLAHOMA!’ opens April 19 and runs through April 28.
Adults $10.00 – Students $7.00. To order tickets, contact the box office at 952-918-1871.
We hope to see everyone in the ISM PAC for one or all of the performances!

As the world seems to grow smaller due to the wonders of technology the staff, students, and parents at The International School of Minnesota are all aware of the value-added of contributing to others through service projects. Every year, The International School of Minnesota chooses a full school service project that supports both our local and global communities. The goal of ISM Against Hunger is to introduce our students to social responsibility and how they can make a difference in our world.
For the past 3 years, ISM’s Student Life Organization™, staff and parents participated in a fundraising project to raise money for food which was contributed to both local food pantries as well as to families in the bateys of the Dominican Republic. The full school service learning project was enriched for some students, parents, and staff when they visited the villages in the Dominican Republic, delivering food that was packed by the ISM community.
Attached to this email you will find the first document from the ISM Against Hunger Committee announcing the Parent Information Meeting which will be held on Wednesday, October 31, from 8:30am-9:00am in the PAC. Watch the ISM Parent Connection Website and The ISM Pulse for information about the upcoming 2012 ISM full school service project and learn about ways that you can be involved!

Next week is Homecoming Week at ISM and the SABIS® Student Life Organization™ prefects have been working feverishly to provide a fun-filled schedule for students in grades 4-12. Please read the attached Weekly Update to find out how your child can participate.
This week several SLO™ prefects have been organizing participation in the “The State Farm Celebrate My Drive”, a teen-driver awareness promotion. This is a national promotion that is giving $100,000 to 13 different school across the country. One school in the Minneapolis area will win one of the $100,000 grants. The winning school is based on online votes and is calculated based on a matrix of factors including the over-all enrollment.
Please help us by going to the website celebratemydrive.com where you can vote for ISM. To participate in the School Vote you must be 14 or older. Participants do not have to be enrolled in ISM, so parents, grandparents, etc. may vote. Voting ends today at midnight.

Upper School Summer Enrichment Program
We are pleased to once again roll our Summer Enrichment Program. Upper school students are invited to join our four-week long program running from July 1-26. We’re offering a wide variety of courses designed to meet many different needs and interests. Some courses are for school credit and can be used to meet ISM graduation requirements, some are designed to prepare students for a rigorous course here at ISM or for the college experience in general, and some are offered purely out of academic interest. These classes will generally be offered Monday-Thursday and will take place before noon. The availability of these classes depends on how many students register.
