INTERNATIONAL KIDS CAMP

2010 INTERNATIONAL KIDS CAMP is offered weekly at ISM from June 21 through August 13 for children from age 3 1/2 (must have turned 3 by January 1, 2010) through those entering sixth grade. There is also a Counselor in Training (CIT) program for students entering grades 7, 8, or 9.

AROUND-THE-WORLD FUN...
Experience the "flavor" of different cultures around the world as we wind our imaginary way through a variety of cultures.  Explore each culture’s unique food, sports, songs, games, crafts, literature, and customs. With energetic camp counselors and weekly “specialists in residence” as tour guides, we’ll spread our wings and fly off to faraway adventures. Kids Camp is guaranteed to be your passport to a fun-filled summer with friends.

The Explorers Program is for our youngest campers.  It accepts children who are three years old, through those who will have completed Kindergarten this year. All children must be toilet trained. Each week will be a fun-filled learning adventure and may include a field trip, swimming time both on campus and at the beach, language "labs" with specialists, and games. The children will be encouraged to develop a sense of wonder. For younger children, the Explorers program offers a mix of summer fun and learning so that campers have a truly well-rounded experience. We believe that camp is great fun when children have the chance to learn through nature, creativity, and hands-on discovery.

The Pioneers Program accepts children who have completed first through fifth grades. In addition to a weekly language “lab”, it will offer art, recreation, cooking, and swimming sessions and will include canoeing, outdoor games, and exploration of ISM's wooded, lakefront campus.    The focus of Pioneers is a hands-on, adventurous approach to camp experiences specifically geared to the interests of this age level.

The Sport Adventurers Program is sure to excite the liveliest, action seekers amongst our elementary and middle age students!  Each week a different sport, such as soccer, water fun and safety, sailing, fishing, outdoor adventure, and basketball will be featured.  Led by specialists, this afternoon only program will allow participants the opportunity to delve more deeply into these athletic endeavors.  With time devoted to learning the skills and playing the game, good sportsmanship, team building, and old fashioned FUN will be important goals, as well.

Students entering grades 7, 8, or 9 looking for summer fun may wish to sign up for the International Kids Camp COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) Program After this one week session, you may be allowed to volunteer to help at Kids Camp.  Campers will learn basic water safety and first aid, master supervisory skills of young children, develop nature appreciation, help organize camp activities, and experience canoeing, kayaking, archery, bocce, and more.
