TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES 2009-2010

Concordia Language Villages

Concordia Language Village Weekends provide a fun and exciting immersion experience for students in grades 4-12 and their language teachers. Village Weekends are designed to enhance language learning in the classroom during the academic year. Students’ understanding can improve dramatically during a Village Weekend. Language and culture come to life through authentic games, arts, sports, traditions, music, food and native staff. There is no other place that immerses language students in the culture and language like Village Weekends at Concordia Language Villages: It's travel abroad without leaving the U.S.!

 

TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES 2008-2009

 

Honduras Service Trip February 12-17, 2009

For students in grades 9-12, this trip provides the opportunity to make

a difference in the lives of the people who live in Honduras. The itinerary:

an orientation session, the community service project(s) which may

include: building schools, distributing food, painting houses, etc.,

group discussions, soccer games with locals, and a trip to the beach.

Spring Break in France March 12 - 21, 2009

For students in grades 9-12 taking French, this annual offering is an exciting opportunity to acquire first-hand knowledge of the French Culture and improve their French skills. After three days in Paris, students will travel to Bordeaux and live with a host family. While there they will attend school and participate in excursions and other activities.

Spring Break in Spain March 12 - 21, 2009

Landscape in Guipúzcoa

For students in grades 9-12 taking Spanish, this opportunity will give our students a true taste of life in Spain, as they will spend ten day in Madrid, living with a host family, being fully immersed in the language and culture. Other excursions and activities will also add to this unforgettable experience.

2008 Student Life Training in Egypt

From July 24 through August 4, Student Life Deputy Head Prefects and accompanying Student Life Coordinators from across the SABIS® Network of Schools will gather in Cairo, Egypt. ISM students submitted applications in order to be considered as one of the prefects going to Cairo. Three lucky students were chosen from 14 applicants: Rachel Geistfeld, Saher Naumann (both 11th grade), and Chris Lilly (10th grade). These students and Christy Hensley, Student Life Coordinator, will be joining other multi-talented youth from the 15 countries that are home to 60 sister SABIS® schools.

 

*Past travel opportunities have taken students to Mexico, France, England, and China.
